Description

Want to be in a show for younger students and have the opportunity to have a larger role? Not available to be in the main stage production the week of Spring Break?  Then this "Lite" show in a class is just for you!

This is a 1 hour show with 17 roles available plus chorus. Students will be responsible for creating their own costume.

*Seussical Jr.”  is not a main stage production and will be presented as a CYT lite show with minimal set on Sunday, March 9th, at 5pm & 7pm (yes, thats 2 shows!) at Hope Chapel.  We are offering this in conjunction with our main stage show, since SOM is more of a play with music and has less ensemble opportunities for children not cast as a Von Trapp child. We encourage those who are planning to audition for "The Sound of Music" to audition for both shows since the competition for the Von Trapp roles will be fierce and we will be making cuts. (We had 30 younger girls audition for Jane last show.)  If a student is cast in SOM, they may choose to move to a different class as their option.

This class is a good introduction to CYT for a new student before committing to a main stage show, students who need more experience in a role before holding a main stage role, and/or students who are unable to commit to Spring break week or want a break from the main stage production.

Students enrolled in this class must choose one of the song cuts on the links in this class registration confirmation letter as their audition piece and submit their video before Wednesday, January 1st. Casting will be done by class instructors prior to the first class. Students who do not turn in their video by this date will automatically be placed in the chorus. Videos must be students singing with the no vocals track.

Audition tracks are included in the class confirmation email.

*Please read the audition tips page on our website to help you prepare.

NOTE: In addition to the weekly classes, all students will be required to attend 3 Saturday rehearsals at Hope Chapel on the following dates from 9:00am to 3:00pm: January 18th, March 1st & 8th.  Students will need to bring their lunch.  Specific details about the Saturday rehearsals will be communicated once the Winter session begins.

To ensure the success of the Showcase/Show, students are required to attend all scheduled classes and rehearsals. Those with more than 2 absences may become ineligible to participate.

*Students enrolled in this class/show may also be in The Sound of Music, but will only be allowed to carry a principal role in one of the shows. If they choose to do both, The show they do not get cast in a role, they will be ensemble.

Teacher:

Cassidy Fraley

Born and raised in Bakersfield, CA, Cassidy got her start in Theater at the age of 9 when she played Grandma Fa in the local youth theatre summer program. The first time the audience laughed, Cassidy was hooked. She majored in Musical Theater at Texas Christian University, and in her sophomore year, was encouraged by staff and friends to go to New York City and go after her dreams. Cassidy has been taking voice lessons since the age of 12, and loves learning the possibilities of what the human instrument is Capable of. Some of her favorite roles include Fiona in Shrek, Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray, Lily in the Secret Garden, and Miss Andrews in Mary Poppins. Since moving to Austin in August, Cassidy has been the Music Specialist for Challenger School in Avery Ranch, and she loves teaching her students all about what true musicianship looks like. Prior to her move, Cassidy owned her own private voice studio, Performer Up Studios. When not working, Cassidy loves to serve at Celebration Church, sharing her love of Jesus with others, and playing board games with her friends.
